Women’s Wining Streak Ends at Nine
SMITHFIELD, RI – The MCC Women’s soccer team’s nine game winning streak came to end Wednesday afternoon at Bryant University when CC of Rhode Island, the NJCAA Division I #11 ranked team, beat the Cougars 3-0.
MCC (9-1) received excellent goaltending from Nicole Morehouse of Tolland, who made nine saves in the first half before moving up to forward. Former Manchester High Goalkeeper Ashlyn Gates took over in the second half for the Cougars and made seven saves. CCRI (8-2) scored its first goal 10 minutes into the game and held a 1-0 lead at halftime. CCRI scored its second goal 20 minutes into the second half.
The MCC Women play a make up game at home on Thursday afternoon (October 9) against Springfield Tech CC. Game time is 4 pm followed by three consecutive road games.
