Manchester, Conn. – (May 13, 2010) . . . Graduates of Manchester Community College who earn an associate degree in accounting and business administration will be guaranteed admission to the University of Connecticut School of Business through a recently signed agreement.

The Business & Technology Transfer Pathway program will provide MCC students guaranteed admission to UConn School of Business regional campuses located in West Hartford, Waterbury or Stamford, provided they complete an associate degree in accounting and business administration and have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average in approved business courses highlighted in the degree program.

Students admitted to UConn School of Business will major in business and technology and, ultimately, earn a bachelor of science degree in business.

“The program is truly a seamless process that allows a student to transition from one great institution to another,” stated Meghan Hanrahan, program manager, UConn School of Business. “Students can earn two degrees in a timely manner and the program will prepare students for a competitive career path or graduate school upon graduation.”

MCC and UConn School of Business will share information about students in the program, including their progress at MCC and their success at the University. UConn advisors will begin meeting with students in fall 2010 while they still are enrolled at MCC.

Currently, MCC has 353 students enrolled in the accounting and business administration degree program.

“We see this agreement as a partnership that is not only great for the students at MCC and the UConn School of Business, but for the State of Connecticut,” stated Gena Glickman, president of Manchester Community College. “We are expanding access to higher education for our students who, in turn, will become major contributors to the vitality of our economy.”

Students of any age who possess the desire to pursue higher education are welcome at Manchester Community College. MCC is proud of its academic excellence, new facilities, flexible schedules, small classes, low tuition and faculty with both academic and “real world” credentials. The College offers over 60 programs, transfer options, financial aid and scholarships, as well as access to baccalaureate degrees through guaranteed admissions programs with several universities. MCC is situated on a park-like campus and is easily accessible from I-84.
