Simmons Nets Second Game-Winner In As Many Games

Men’s Soccer – Tuesday September 28:

Manchester CC 3 Massbay CC 1

MANCHESTER – Zachary Simmons (Coventry) broke a 1-1 tie 15 minutes into the second half, leading Manchester CC (5-2) to a 3-1 victory over Massbay CC (2-1) in a Region 21, Division III game Tuesday afternoon.

MassBay took a
1-0 lead in the 19th minute before Robert Umunakwe (West Hartford) tied the game with an assist from Albert Shakhnazarov (West Hartford) . Franc Gjomarkaj (Rocky Hill) scored an insurance goal, which was also assisted by Shakhnazarov, in the 75th minute.

For Simmons it was his second consecutive game winner. The freshman midfielder scored the lone goal in MCC’s 1-0 victory over Ben Franklin Institute Saturday.
Tony Ettorre (Plainville) made three saves for MCC, who improves to 5-0 in Region 21, Division III play.

MANCHESTER – Zachary Simmons (Coventry) scored on a Dexter Walker (Windsor) cross 36 minutes into the game and Tony Ettorre (Plainville) made three saves in his third shutout of the season as Manchester CC (4-2) beat Ben Franklin Institute of Technology 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
