New Faculty Join Manchester Community College

MCC Welcomes New Faculty

Manchester, CT – (August 27, 2012) . . . Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following additions to its staff:

Ricardo Aragon, a resident of East Hartford, has joined MCC as instructor of Hospitality in the Social Science and Hospitality Division. Aragon was formerly an instructor of culinary art at WOR-WIC Community College in Maryland and served as graduate teaching assistant, teaching fellow and teaching assistant at Johnson & Wales University. He holds an associate degree in Applied Sciences in Culinary Arts, a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts and a master’s degree in Teaching in Food Service Education from Johnson & Wales University.

MaryJo Archambault, a resident of Somers, has joined MCC as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of Recreation and Exercise Studies. Achambault is pursuing her EdD at the University of Hartford and was formerly an assistant professor at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) and an adjunct lecturer at SCSU and Manchester Community College. She has an associate degree from MCC, a bachelor’s degree from Charter Oak State College and a master’s in Recreation and Leisure Studies from SCSU. She has served as a volunteer soccer coach, a Girl Scout Leader and co-leader of the Brain Injury Support Group in New Britain.

Nancy Bray, a resident of Manchester, has been hired as an instructor of Psychology in the Social Science and Hospitality Division. Bray was previously an adjunct professor at MCC, the University of Hartford, Asnuntuck Community College; Central Connecticut State University and Quinenaug Valley Community College, she also taught at The College at Old Westbury, Nassua Community College, Suffolk Community College and Molloy College. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology form Vassar College, a master’s degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University and Hofstra University and a doctoral degree in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University.

David Calabrese, a resident of Torrington, has joined MCC as instructor of Game Design/Multimedia Studies in the Liberal Arts Division. Calabrese was previously an adjunct professor at MCC, Quinnipiac University and The Art Institute of Pittsburg; he also was an instructor of game design and art at The Art Institute of Las Vegas and a Teaching Assistant at Savannah College of Art and Design. He has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Hartford Art School and a master’s degree in Fine Arts from Savannah College of art and Design.

Olivia Chiang, a resident of New Haven, has joined MCC as instructor of Art History in the Liberal Arts Division. Chiang was previously an adjunct lecturer at MCC and a graduate teaching fellow at Yale University. She has a bachelor’s degree in History and Art History from Tufts University, graduating summa cum laude, and a master’s degree from Yale University.

Lisa Dadio, a resident of Seymour, has joined MCC as instructor of Criminal Justice in the Social Science and Hospitality Division. Dadio was previously an adjunct instructor at the University of New Haven and Post University and has worked as a police lieutenant for the Department of Police Service in New Haven. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement Administration from the University of New Haven, a master’s degree in Forensic Science and Advanced Criminal Investigation from the University of New Haven and a master’s degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University.

David Dubiel, a resident of South Windsor, has been hired as instructor of Criminal Justice in the Social Science and Hospitality Division. Dubiel was previously an adjunct instructor at t Central Connecticut State University and MCC and has worked as a police lieutenant for the Police Department in West Hartford. He holds an associate degree in Law Enforcement from MCC, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Central Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Central Connecticut State University.

Malton Edwards, of New Britain, has joined MCC as instructor of business in the Business, Engineering and Technology Division. Edwards was previously an instructor at Central Connecticut State University and an adjunct instructor at Central Connecticut State University, Southern Connecticut State University, Post University and Quinnipiac. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Central Connecticut State University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Connecticut.

Mary Holland, a resident of West Hartford, has joined MCC as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the Paralegal and Law Program in the Business, Engineering and Technology Division. Holland previously worked as an adjunct instructor at MCC and has worked as a commercial litigation associate in Hartford. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut Law School.

Kathleen Jeffries, a resident of Norwalk, has joined MCC as Coordinator of the Dental Assistant Program in the Mathematics, Science and Health Careers Division. Jeffries was previously the Coordinator of the Dental Assisting Program at Nichols Career Center in Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College, a master’s in business administration from Williams Woods University and attended the Institute for Dental Radiology Instructors at the University of Texas.

Katherine Kern, a resident of Essex, has been hired be MCC as instructor of Hospitality in the Social Science and Hospitality Division. Kern was previously an adjunct instructor at MCC and is an experienced community college teaching professional in the field of culinary arts and has a background in business management. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, a master’s in business administration from University of New Haven and a certificate in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University.

Brion van Over, a resident of Turner Falls, MA, has joined MCC as instructor of Communication in the Liberal Arts Division. van Over previously worked as a research assistant for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Social and Environmental Research Institute and was a teaching associate at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego, a master’s degree from the University at Albany and a PhD from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
