New Appointments at Manchester Community College
Manchester, CT – (August 13, 2010) . . . Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following appointments:
Pamela Mitchell-Crump, of Westfield, MA, has joined MCC as the new associate dean of Academic Affairs. Mitchell-Crump was formerly the executive assistant to the president and vice president for the Western Massachusetts Economic Development Council. Previously, she was the associate dean of academic finance and assistant to the senior vice president at Westfield State College in MA. As the associate dean of Academic Affairs, Mitchell-Crump will be responsible for assisting the dean of Academic Affairs in faculty staffing, development and evaluations; curriculum and course development; academic budget distribution and management.
Mitchell-Crump holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts, a master of public administration degree in public law and management from the University of Hartford, and a bachelor of science degree in justice and law administration from Western Connecticut State University.
Catherine Seaver, of Broad Brook, is the new director of the college’s Center for Business and Technologies. Seaver has been employed with MCC since January 2002 as a professor of engineering and technology, and has served as department chairperson for the past four years. In her new role, Seaver will be responsible for the management of program curriculum design and development, faculty selection, professional development and instructional quality. Additionally, she will manage the division’s budget, as well as administrative resources.
Seaver has a master of science degree in educational technology from Eastern Connecticut State University, a master of science degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix, and a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing engineering from Miami University in Ohio. She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in higher education administration at the University of Phoenix. Before coming to MCC in 2002, Catherine was employed for many years as a systems engineer, systems manager and IT project manager, working on multi-million dollar projects requiring numerous responsibilities.
Seaver is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and a co-trustee for the Connecticut chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau, an academic and professional honor society.
Christopher Paulin, of Manchester, is the new director of the college’s Social Science and Hospitality division. Paulin will be responsible for the management of program curriculum design and development, faculty selection, professional development and instructional quality. He will also manage the division’s budget, as well as administrative resources.
Paulin has been employed with MCC since 1996 as a professor of History, and served as department chairperson of Economics, Geography and History since 2008. Paulin is also director of MCC’s Institute of Local History. Previously, Paulin was a lecturer at the University of Connecticut and formerly an adjunct professor at Eastern Connecticut State University.
Paulin is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in History. He also has a Ph.D. in History from the University of Connecticut.
Regina Ferrante, of Ivoryton, is the new director of finance and administrative services at MCC. She will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting, finance and administrative services. Prior to joining MCC, Ferrante was the principal for St. Mary Star of the Sea school in New London. Previously, she was the general manager and director of finance for Adelphia Cable Communications in Norwich.
Ferrante holds a master of arts degree in elementary education from the University of New Haven and a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Queens College of the City University of New York.
Maura Kjar, of Glastonbury, has joined MCC as the new fiscal administrative supervisor. Kjar will be responsible for managing the daily preparation of financial statements, reports and budget requests for the college. She holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
Kjar was formerly an accountant for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Newington. Previously, she was an accountant supervisor for the Town of Monroe.
Adam Peacock, of Wethersfield, has been appointed the new system manager in the college’s Administrative Affairs division. He will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the College’s hardware, operating systems, databases and software applications.
Peacock was formerly a student worker for the college’s Information Technology department and, previously, was an information technology technician for Torrington Savings Bank. Peacock is currently pursuing an associate degree in computer science at Manchester Community College.
