Nathan Hale Student Art Start Exhibit at MCC
Manchester, Connecticut (April 24, 2012)… Art Start is a collaborative art education and service learning project sponsored by the Manchester Office of Neighborhoods and Families, Manchester Youth Services Bureau, and Manchester Community College in cooperation with Nathan Hale Elementary School. Its purpose is to give interested art students from Nathan Hale the opportunity to express their creativity and learn from students in Manchester Community College’s Visual Fine Arts associate degree program.
Over the last month, Nathan Hale students have participated in four art workshops at the college to create ceramic Thank You Vessels and Retablos, small devotional paintings. The culmination of the Art Start project is the one-week exhibit at Manchester Community College showcasing the Nathan Hale students’ creations. The exhibit is displayed on the first floor of the college’s SBM Charitable Foundation Building and runs from Tuesday, April 24, through Monday, April 30. According to Patricia Carrigan and Susan Classen-Sullivan, the project’s faculty advisors, “the work is truly wonderful”.
Students of any age who possess the desire to pursue higher education are welcome at Manchester Community College. MCC is proud of its academic excellence, new facilities, flexible schedules, small classes, low tuition and faculty with both academic and “real world” credentials.
