MCC Women beat Bristol CC 4-0
Fall River, MA. (Aug 30) – The MCC Women’s Soccer team posted its second consecutive road shutout on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA.
Chelsea Allen (Newington) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Cougars won for the second time in as many tries. MCC took a 3-0 lead by halftime on the goals by Liz Nahorney (Newington) Allen and Co-Captain Brittany Finger (Enfield).
Allen assisted on Nahorney’s goal, which gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Nahorney returned the favor, assisting on Allen’s first of two goals. Allen closed out the scoring with a second half goal.
“It was a physical game,” MCC Coach Alex Calpa said. “We played well as a team, moved the ball well and Chelsea played great up top.”
Finger leads the team with four goals and 11 points.
Co-Captain Nicole Morehouse (Tolland) and Kyle Ronciaoli (West Hartford) split the game in half for their second consecutive shutout. Morehouse made four saves in the first half while Ronciaoli was called on three times for saves over the final 45 minutes.
Returning sophomore Julia Connor (Ellington), who missed the team’s 8-0 win against MassBay on Monday, returned the line and made an immediate impact. “Julia was a machine in the middle,” according to Calpa.
The Cougars open the home portion of their schedule Wednesday afternoon at the McCormick Complex with a 4 pm game against Region XXI rival Holyoke CC.
