MCC Welcomes New Staff Member
Manchester, Conn. – (November 14, 2007) . . . Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following addition to its staff:
Teshia Levy-Grant, of Bloomfield, has joined MCC as the STRONG-CT Project Coordinator. STRONG-CT (Science and Technology Reaching Out to New Generations in Connecticut) is a collaborative project among MCC, Three Rivers Community College, Quinebaug Valley Community College, and the University of Connecticut. It is funded by the National Science Foundation, and aims to increase the recruitment and retention of minority and first generation students into the life sciences.
Students in the STRONG-CT program will earn an associate degree at one of the selected community colleges before transferring to UConn for a baccalaureate degree.
In her new role, Levy-Grant will be responsible for supporting and contributing to the successful implementation and operation of the STRONG-CT program by assisting faculty with the development of curricula, marketing the program to high school counselors, and recruiting prospective students, in addition to maintaining a project budget and developing a tracking system.
Prior to joining MCC, Levy-Grant was the coordinator of diversity initiatives for Saint Joseph College. Previously, she worked as a graduate intern in pre-collegiate access services for Central Connecticut State University.
Levy-Grant is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and holds a master of science degree in Counseling and a bachelor of arts degree in English/Premed from Wesleyan University.
