MCC Takes Two From Dean College; Improves to 10-2-1
Ohlmann and Raymond Now 3-0; Clements has Six Hits, Six RBI
FRANKLIN, MA – (April 6, 2008) Rain, snow and wind couldn’t stop the MCC baseball from beating Dean College twice on Sunday by 14-0 and 12-3 scores. The Cougars scored in double-digits for the third straight game and swept a double-header on the road for the second straight Sunday.
Kevin Clements (Vernon) was 6 for 9 on the day with six RBI while leadoff hitter Alan Fredriksson (Torrington) was a combined 6 for 7 with six runs scored, three stolen bases and an RBI. Fredriksson was 4 for 4 in the first game while Clements answered with a 4 for 4 game in the nightcap. Clements is now 20 for 31 (.645) on the season.
Liam Ohlmann (Wallingford/Choate) and Jeff Raymond (Hebron) both improved to 3-0 by pitching five strong innings, Ohlmann in the first game and Raymond in the second. Ohlmann had 12 strikeouts in five innings while giving up just one hit — a wind-blown pop-up that dropped in center field — and walked two batters. Raymond scattered eight hits, striking out four and gave up a pair of runs. He walked his first batter of the season over 17 innings pitched.
Kevin Garrison (Berlin) struck out four in two innings of relief in the first game while Steve Simon (Middlefield) pitched the final two innings of game two, giving up just one run on a rain soaked field.
Derek Grundmann (Colchester) and Pedro Acevedo (New Britain) both had three hits in game one and Dan Angelillo (Wethersfield) had two hits apiece. In game two, Rob Bukowski (Windsor Locks) was 2 for 5, Aaron Guilbeault (Lebanon) 2 for 4 and James McGowan (South Windsor) was 1 for 2 with three walks.
MCC is plays a pair of home games on Wednesday, April 9 against CCRI starting at 4pm.
