Men’s Soccer:
MCC 3 STCC 0
Mariusz Kurzatkowski (Southington) scored his fourth goal in as many games as MCC extended its season opening winning streak to four games with a 3-0 win over Springfield Tech Thursday afternoon in Manchester.
Sebby Mazzarella (Wethersfield) scored his first goal of the season to give MCC (4-0) a 1-0 lead 38 minutes into the contest. Frank Busumbru (South Windsor) gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead with his third goal of the season nine minutes into the second half.
“We should have scored three or four goals early, but once we scored the first one, they (STCC) broke down and the other ones came,” MCC Coach Jim Insinga said.
Hami Kara (Wethersfield), Tony Ettorre (Plainville) and Connor Burns (Rocky Hill) combined for seven saves in MCC’s third shutout of the season. Hayden Theodorakis made six saves for STCC (1-2-1). Guiseppe Panajia (Glastonbury) and Ken Rossignol (Manchester) had assists.
“Everybody played and everybody felt good about it,” Insinga said. “Now we are 4-0, keeping our record intact, we just have to work hard and stay focused. We have Bunker Hill coming up which will be an extremely difficult game for us and we are looking forward to it.”
Both Bunker Hill CC’s soccer teams will travel to Manchester on Saturday – the Women square off at noon while the Men’s game kicks off at 2PM.
