Manchester Community College Receives Manchester High School Award

Manchester, Connecticut -(May 30, 2012) At Manchester’s High School’s (MHS) annual School-to Career Partnership Breakfast on May 30, Manchester Community College was given the Business Partner of the Year Award for the role it has played in connecting students with career paths during the 2011-2012 school year.

Manchester High School students’ participation in school-to-career activities included job shadowing, field trips and career presentations. The college supports these activities through numerous programs; most notably activities aimed at improving the college readiness of MHS students. This year MHS students attended several events at the college including a Math Competition for students from area high schools. MHS students placed fourth in the event. In addition, over 200 Manchester High School students participated in the College Career Pathways program and earned college credits for courses articulated between the college and the high school. Students can earn up to 14 credits for use at MCC or for transfer to another college or university.

The School to Career Partnership program at Manchester High School, administered by the Career Services Department, is available to assist students, and their parents with career, college and employment information.

Students of any age who possess the desire to pursue higher education are welcome at Manchester Community College. MCC is proud of its academic excellence, new facilities, flexible schedules, small classes, low tuition and faculty with both academic and “real world” credentials. The college offers over 60 programs, transfer options, financial aid and scholarships, as well as access to baccalaureate degrees through guaranteed admissions programs with several universities. MCC is situated on a park like campus and is easily accessible from I-84.
