MCC Plans Open House for Celebration of Manufacturing Month

Manchester, CT – (September 24, 2013) – Manchester Community College is participating in Manufacturing Month with an open house on campus for local manufacturing companies, incumbent workers, students, high-school guidance counselors, parents and the general public Friday, October 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The open house is free, although reservations are encouraged. Call Mary Boileau at 860-512-2813 or email mboileau@manchestercc.edu by October 4.

“MCC’s open house activities will provide a foundation for students, schools, employees and employers to foster the skills, talents, and teamwork necessary to create a better, long-term economic outlook for Connecticut,” said Ed Dombroski, Coordinator of Manufacturing Programs, Business and Industry Services at MCC. “Our various programs are designed to serve the needs of both employees and employers, and to ensure that students get the right skills to succeed in today’s advanced, high-tech manufacturing jobs.”

MCC open house attendees will have the opportunity to tour college facilities and learn more about the manufacturing training and education as well as engineering degree programs available at MCC.

The college’s manufacturing and engineering instructors will provide information about today’s design and production technology, and there will be staff on hand to discuss scholarship opportunities.

Manufacturing Month is dedicated to promoting manufacturing, educating Connecticut residents about the rewarding career pathways in manufacturing, and helping the state’s manufacturers recruit the skilled workforce that they need to succeed in a global market.

The initiative builds on the collaboration of the state’s many industry associations, companies, educational institutions, and workforce and economic development organizations that advocate for manufacturing. It provides a foundation for students, schools, employees and employers today to cultivate the skills, talents and creativity necessary to create a better long-term economic outlook for the state through manufacturing.
