MCC Opens its Student Kitchens for Dining at the Culinary Arts Center

MANCHESTER, Conn. (September 21, 2021) – Manchester Community College is opening its Culinary Arts Center kitchens to members of the community to help students learn and improve their culinary and hospitality skills.

The public is invited to join student chefs at Open Kitchen luncheons, which begin at noon. The cost is $15 per person. COVID protocols apply to all on-campus activities.

There is a luncheon on Thursday, September 23, hosted by the International Foods class. Students are serving a menu inspired by cuisine from Ecuador, Columbia and Venezuela.

Appetizer – Quinoa Mango Salad served with Grilled Shrimp and Scallops

Entrée – Sautéed Chicken Breast Aji-Style served with Green Rice Pilaf and Sautéed Green Beans and Carrots

Dessert – Pineapple Flan served with Buñuelos

The next luncheon will be held Thursday, September 30. The cuisine is inspired by China.

Soup  – Mushroom Egg Drop Soup served with Steamed Buns

Appetizer-Pan Fried Dumplings served with Celery Salad

Entrée – Char Sui (Roasted Pork Loin) served with Fried Rice, Red Peppers and Snap Peas

Dessert – Rice Pudding served with Lychee and Dragon Fruit

On October 7, the students will prepare a menu inspired by France.

Soup – Cream of Carrot Soup served with Gougeres and Baguettes

Appetizer – Baby Stuffed Mushroom served with Mesclun Greens

Entrée – Roasted Rack of Lamb served with Potatoes Gratin, Baby Zucchini and Squash

Dessert – Floating Island Meringues

Reservations are required and fees must be paid when the reservation is made. There is a limit of eight reservations per person per meal.
