MCC Opens its Student Kitchens for Dining at the Culinary Arts Center

Manchester Community College is opening its award-winning Culinary Arts Center kitchens to members of the community to help students learn and improve their craft.

The public is invited to join student chefs at any of a series of dinners featuring a full-course menu of tantalizing, classic dishes. The meals, including a traditional Passover Seder on Tuesday, April 8, are held three times in April and once in May in the Culinary Arts Center dining room on the second floor of the college’s Student Services Center, starting at 7 p.m.  The cost per meal is $12.

“Part of the learning experience is to serve real customers and get feedback on the quality of our students’ food and service,” said Professor Jayne Pearson, who leads the MCC program.  “We encourage people to join us and, rather than leaving a tip, provide honest comments to help the students learn how to provide world-class service.”

For more information on the menus planned for Wednesday, April 9; Wednesday, April 16; and Wednesday, May 7, visit Dining at the Culinary Arts Center.

The April 8 Kosher-style Passover Seder dinner, featuring Syrian cuisine, begins at 6 p.m. Seating is limited for all meals.

The students are also preparing and serving lunch at noon on April10, 15, 29 and May 1 for $8. Details on lunch menus are also on the website.

Reservations are required and fees must be paid when the reservation is made for both dinner and lunch. There is a limit of eight reservations per person per meal.

For credit card payments, call 860-512-3648; for cash or check payments, please visit the college bursar’s office, Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
