MCC Offers Health Career Pathways Certificate for Students Interested in Exploring In-Demand Health Services

MANCHESTER, Conn. (July 17, 2019) – Jobs in Connecticut’s health services sector are among those with the most openings projected over the next five to ten years. Many are among the fastest growing fields as well. MCC has a certificate program for students interested in exploring these jobs before committing to one field.

The health careers are a group of professions that assist and complement the work of physicians and other healthcare providers. Many of the professions have been developed in recent decades due to the rapid advancements in healthcare technologies. These jobs will be experiencing double-digit growth, according to the Connecticut Department of Labor.

Students in MCC’s Health Career Pathways program will learn how to operate and function in these ever-growing, important and in-demand fields. Through this 28-credit certificate program, students learn — among other skills valuable in a health career — personal and professional organizational skills, critical thinking through problem solving, how to list and define the basics of medical terminology and how to research and explore various health care career choices via online and library research.

Credits earned may be applied toward specific degree and requirements. Degrees and certificates offered include Health and Exercise Science, A.S.; Occupational Therapy Assistant, A.S.; Radiation Therapy, A.S.; Radiography, A.S.; Respiratory Care, A.S.; and Surgical Technology, A.S.; as well as the Dental Assistant certificate.

Enrollment for the Fall 2019 semester is currently open. MCC is taking applications for new and transferring students, with no application fee. Classes begin August 27.
