MCC Offers Daytime Credit-Free Courses

Manchester, Conn. (October 29, 2015) –MCC offers new credit-free course options for students daytime during the week. Credit-free courses are short in length, diverse in subject and taught by experienced instructors with advanced degrees.

The course “Daytime Zumba Gold” will be held Mondays beginning November 2, from 9 to 10 a.m., for a total of six sessions. Zumba Gold is a modified class that recreates the original moves but at a lower intensity. Zumba is a fun way to stay active as the weather gets cooler and Gold is a great option for adults with injuries or those who prefer a slower pace. Reference CRN 31966 to register.

“Digital Camera Introduction for Older Adults” will be held Fridays for two sessions on November 13 and 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. Students are welcome to bring their own digital camera to class and will learn the fundamentals as well as storage options for pictures. This course is great for anyone with a new camera and those who would like to refresh their skills. Reference CRN 31852 to register.

Friday noon-time courses are held on campus weekly with one-session schedules on a variety of topics. The Noon Institute program offers a college-level course for a fee of just $5 for anyone in the community. The lectures encourage lively discussion and interactions among students that can be brought home to the dinner table as interesting conversation starters for family and friends. Topics include culture, history, poetry, authors, current issues, politics and more.

The Noon Institute will feature the course, “What makes a Theatre Production Work?” on Friday, November 13, with instructor Gloria Trombley of the Little Theatre of Manchester. Trombley will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how a production is formed from the very beginning. The course will also include guest speaker, James St. Pierre, who will talk about the front of the house. Reference 31792 to register.
