MCC Offers Credit-Free Courses to Boost Fitness and Nutrition Health
Manchester, Conn. (December 31, 2015) –Manchester Community College offers credit-free courses throughout January and into the spring that can help with New Year’s resolutions for improved fitness and nutrition habits. Credit-free courses are typically short, from a few hours to a few sessions, so they conveniently fit into a busy schedule.

If exercise is at the top of your list, flip to the Fitness and Recreation section for traditional and modern course offerings. Cardio Kickboxing will be offered beginning February 22, from 7 to 8 p.m., with two-day per week class schedule options that include morning and evening start times, Monday and Wednesday, Tuesday and Thursday, or Saturday and Sunday schedules. To register, reference CRN 11586. Tabata Express will be offered beginning January 22, from 4:15 to 5 p.m., Fridays for six sessions. Tabata Express is a bootcamp program that combines the effectiveness of a bootcamp with high-interval training, and is formatted for every fitness level. To register, reference CRN 11668.
For students seeking to balance exercise with healthy nutrition in 2016, the Cuisine course Light on Calories, Fat on Flavor, will be held Monday, February 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. Students will prepare and sample delicacies such as curried pumpkin soup, nut-crusted tilapia with rosemary cream sauce, pan-flashed baby bok choy and more. Students can also flip to the Gardening section for Organic Vegetable Growing, beginning March 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to learn how to start an organic home garden that will provide fresh produce from April to October. To register, reference CRN 11954. Edible Landscapes, beginning Monday, March 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., teaches how to plan and grow landscaping that is both beautiful and delicious! Perennial vegetables, fruit-bearing shrubs, and fruit trees produce an abundance of beautiful flowers and form throughout the year. To register, reference CRN 12101.
Head to the Nutrition section to spark healthy change with current information. Fact versus Fiction: What Foods are Right for You, will be held Thursday, April 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. This informative class, taught by a naturopathic physician, will cover information about good carbs, beneficial proteins, balanced fiber and healthy fats, and more.
