MCC Offering Three new Accelerated Certificate Programs
Manchester, CT – (July 12, 2011)…Manchester Community College is offering three new accelerated certificate programs beginning in the 2011 fall semester. They are: Computer-Aided Design, Fitness Specialist and Web Technology.
The accelerated programs are especially designed to enable students to complete course requirements by attending classes scheduled on weekdays, weekends or online during eight and twelve week sessions. These certificate programs can be completed in one year. Students who complete these certificate programs and decide to pursue an advanced degree may apply all of their credits towards an associates degree. The courses are part of MCC’s College by Design program, which is administered through its Continuing Education Division.
The Computer–Aided Design certificate program provides students with career-based training in mechanical design using computer-aided drafting/design technology. The program also includes education and training in applied technical math, engineering drawing and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills. Fitness Specialist certificate prepares students to work for organizations or individuals and groups to help improve clients’ fitness levels or to rehabilitate injuries. Fitness specialists also assess the physical condition of the participants, lead warm-up activities and supervise an entire exercise program. The Web Technology certificate program prepares students for web application development and the critical skills needed to conceive, build and maintain sophisticated web sites. This certificate also provides individuals in the current high-tech industry the opportunity to upgrade their skills in the web area.
