MCC Men’s Soccer Team Splits Pair Over the Weekend

On Saturday afternoon, the MCC Men’s Soccer team beat MassBay CC in Wellesley, MA 7-0. Manchester resident Frank Busumbru (Ghana, Africa) led the way with a pair goals, giving MCC a 2-0 halftime lead. The Cougars exploded for five goals in the second half. Former Norwich Free Academy All-Stater Jemmy Cange had a goal and an assist while former Windsor High forward Jason Walker scored his fifth goal of the year. Former Manchester High standout Brandon Foster added an assist. Jeff Gregor (Newington), Chris Meneses (Canton) and John Ruggiero (Enfield) each made a save in the shutout effort.

On Sunday, the team again boarded a bus for the Bay State, this time to face Bunker Hill CC in Boston. They returned with a 2-1 defeat, snapping a five game winning streak. Joe Danso (West Haven) scored a first half goal and Gregor made 12 saves in the losing effort.

“They beat us to the ball in the midfield,” MCC Coach Jim Insinga said after the game. “They played a better game than us and had a step on us all day.” Bunker Hill improves to 5-3 while MCC drops to 5-2. Bunker Hill visits Manchester for this coming Saturday for 1 pm rematch.
