MCC Maintains National NAEYC Accreditation
Manchester, Connecticut – (June 4, 2012) … The Child Development Center at Manchester Community College has maintained accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which is the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals.
Gregg Brohinsky, Director of the Child Development Center at Manchester Community College said, “We’re proud to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards. NAEYC accreditation lets families in our community know that children in our program are getting the best care and early learning experiences possible.”
The Child Development Center at MCC has dual goals that include both excellence in education for young children and structured learning opportunities for MCC students. The program is staffed by professional teachers and enhanced by student teachers enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program.
Patricia Veo, an MCC student and staff member, decided to enroll her son Aiden in the Child Development Center because it was a very welcoming place and she felt very comforted knowing that her son is safely a few steps away. Veo said, “I am able to concentrate better in the classroom knowing that my son is close, learning and cared for. If he was at a different place of care, I do believe I would be distracted with wondering how he is doing. This in turn has helped me to achieve the goals I am working towards while being a single mother.”
“The Center has an open-door policy parents may visit our classroom at anytime. They are welcome to volunteer, observe, read a story or simply join us for lunch,“ Brohinsky stated, “The staff works to establish significant and meaningful relationships with children and their families, getting to know students-parents in this capacity is one of the greatest assets of working at the Child Development Center.”
The MCC Child Development Center is designed to stimulate and challenge the creative preschooler. Children aged two years and nine months in September through five years of age are eligible to attend, with priority given to children of MCC students. Community residents may register children when space is available. Children may be registered for two, three, four or five half or full days to accommodate parents’ school schedules.
Students of any age who possess the desire to pursue higher education are welcome at Manchester Community College. MCC is proud of its academic excellence, new facilities, flexible schedules, small classes, low tuition and faculty with both academic and “real world” credentials. The college offers over 60 programs, transfer options, financial aid and scholarships, as well as access to baccalaureate degrees through guaranteed admissions programs with several universities. MCC is situated on a park-like campus and is easily accessible from I-84.
