MCC Foundation to Host Estate Planning Workshop and Dinner at College’s Culinary Arts Center
MCC Foundation will host a workshop on estate planning and charitable giving next Wednesday, February 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Culinary Arts Center in the Student Services Center on Manchester Community College’s main campus. The special guest speaker will be Manchester-based attorney Malcolm Barlow.
In the next 30 to 40 years in the U.S., Baby Boomers will transfer $30 trillion to the next generation, according to BusinessInsider.com. Attorney Barlow will share stories about how clients and others have made a charitable-giving impact through their estate plans.
Dinner will be prepared and served at the workshop by MCC’s Culinary Arts students. The cost of the dinner and workshop is $10. Reservations can be made by calling 860-512-2903 or by email at ksprague@manchestercc.edu. Tickets can also be purchased online.
Barlow opened his Manchester law office in 1978. Barlow & Murphy, LLP focuses on estate planning, elder law, real estate, small business and personal injury.
He earned his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has demonstrated his commitment to the community through his involvement with several organizations benefitting senior citizens, including two Manchester housing complexes for low- and moderate-income residents.
He is also involved with the Manchester Land Conservation Trust, Manchester Historical Society, Odyssey Community School, C.A.S.T., Unitarian Universalist Society: East, and the Town of Manchester Housing Authority. He serves on the Planned Giving Committee for the UConn Foundation and as a guest lecturer at UConn and MCC.
