MCC Foundation Appoints New Board Members

Manchester Community College Foundation recently appointed three new members to its board of directors:

Agreda

Charlie Agreda, of West Hartford, is vice president and owner of Evolution Aero, South Windsor. Evolution Aero offers machining services and production of rigid tube assemblies for the aerospace and power generation industries. After founding the company 34 years ago, Agreda has grown it to a mid-sized company that recently acquired Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Florida Eagle Industries, a UTC Gold Supplier. Agreda serves on MCC’s technology and manufacturing advisory council, as well as the MCC Foundation campaign impact team.

Klock

Klock

Peter Klock, of East Hartford, is manager of Rosebud 1876, a partner in the Mills Building Association LLC, in Washington, D.C., and a partner in Square 225 LLC, and owner of hotels in the Washington, D.C., and Virginia areas. He was founder of Software Klock, Inc., a software development company. He holds a Ph.D. in biophysics from Johns Hopkins University and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. He was assistant professor of biology at MCC and developed a course in genetics and has been active in community service for more than a decade, including service on the board of directors for Community Child Guidance Clinic, MIT Club of Hartford, MIT Alumni Association, East Hartford Rotary Club, East Hartford Hockanum River Commission and Interval House.

Eric R. Newell, of South Glastonbury, is chief financial officer and treasurer of Glastonbury-based United Bank and its holding company, United Financial Bancorp, Inc., formerly known as Rockville Bank and Rockville Financial, Inc. Prior to assuming this role in 2013, Newell served as executive vice president/head of treasury and corporate strategy; senior vice president/director of treasury; and vice president/treasury officer at United. Before coming to the bank in 2011, Newell was an assistant vice president/special situations research analyst for AllianceBernstein, L.P. He also worked at Fitch Ratings and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). A certified financial analyst (CFA) charterholder and FDIC commissioned bank examiner, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, School of Business Administration. He is a member of the CFA Institute and Hartford CFA Society and serves on the Harford Golf Club’s finance committee. Newell is also treasurer of United Bank’s charitable foundations which support communities throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. .
