MCC Forges Internship Agreement with State Department of Veterans’ Affairs

Manchester, Conn. (September 3, 2015) — The Department of Veterans’ Affairs, under the direction of Commissioner Sean Connolly, formalized an internship program earlier this week with Manchester Community College that provides opportunities to interns who will work in a variety of disciplines.

Robert Henderson, director of cooperative education at MCC, said, “The college is very committed to serving veterans and to providing outstanding educational opportunities for our students, and this program does both for us.  Our students can serve veterans where they live and get an excellent entry-level professional experience through their internships.  We are very grateful to Commissioner Connolly for initiating this program at the VA Home and Hospital.”

This fall, three MCC students are interning on site. They are Destiny Billingsley, a therapeutic recreation student, assigned to the VA Home and Hospital Recreation department; Kiara Morales-Ramos, a criminal justice student, interning in the facility’s Safety and Security department; and Awa Diop, an accounting student, in the VA Accounting department.
