MCC Faculty Inducted Into Arts Hall of Fame for Outstanding Artistic Achievement
Manchester, CT – (April 26, 2007) . . . Ed Hogan, professor of fine arts at Manchester Community College, will be inducted into the Manchester Arts Commission’s Hall of Fame for his contribution and outstanding service to the arts community.
Hogan, of Andover, earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Hartford and has worked for MCC since 1990 in the Graphic Design program and was instrumental in creating the multimedia studies program in 1999. Hogan has taught courses in graphic design, illustration, computer graphics, animation, interactivity design, 3D modeling and video special effects. He also specialized in freelance design work, including publication design, logo and identity creation, websites, 3D modeling and animation. Hogan has played a key role in the college’s annual fundraiser, “An Evening of Fine Wines,” by creating the event’s logo and designing the overall look for the promotional materials.
“Ed is noted for his talent in the field of visual and graphic art,” stated Liz Tracy, secretary for the Manchester Arts Commission. “He has been a tremendous help to the Arts Commission in designing our brochure and web site.”
The Hall of Fame Awards were established in 2001 by The Manchester Arts Council. Dr. Francis Helfrick was instrumental in his quest to honor local individuals for their dedication to, advocacy for, and achievement in, the arts of this community. The Arts Council disbanded in 2003 and the Manchester Arts Commission continued the tradition. Guidelines for nominations include longevity in the arts, outstanding contributions in any field of artistic expression that have inspired, entertained, educated or benefited others in our community. Honorees are placed in the following categories: Music, Drama, Dance, Education, Literature, Visual Arts, Volunteer, and Arts in Business and Community (the ABC Award).
The Manchester Arts Commission encourages and generates community-wide participation in the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural activities within the Town of Manchester. The organization advocates for and supports the goals of the arts community and creates new economic opportunity for the people of Manchester through expansion of artistic and cultural programs and events.
The Manchester Arts Commission’s Hall of Fame award presentation will be held on Wednesday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road in Manchester.
