MANCHESTER – (APRIL 16, 2008) MCC lost the first game of a double header against Westchester (NY) CC 3-1 and came back to tie the second game 8-8 before it was called because of darkness.
Kevin Clements (Vernon) hit a two-out, two run single to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 8-8. The umpires halted as MCC players were taking the field for the top of the seventh. Manchester held a 6-2 lead after three innings, but Westchester struck for six in the top of the fourth to take an 8-6 lead.
In game one, Steve Simon (Middlefield) pitched a seven inning complete game, allowing three runs (two earned) but was the tough luck loser. Simon (1-2) scattered seven hits, struck out two and walked one batter.
