MCC Dominant in 5-2 Victory Over New Hampshire Tech

MANCHESTER – Gina DiPrato (Suffield) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to help Manchester CC beat New Hampshire Tech 5-2 in non-Region action Saturday afternoon.

Ilyssa Riley (Enfield), Caitie Sutherland (Somers) and Jenna Allison (East Hartford) also scored for MCC (4-5-1). Morgan Crespo scored both goals for NHTI (7-5) while Serena Quillin made 10 saves.

Crespo gave the Lynx a 1-0 lead when she scored on a breakaway in the 16th minute. MCC controlled the ball and pressured Quillin from the start. 13 minutes later, Allison followed up her own rebound off the post and bent the back of the net with a shot from the goal line.

The game went into the half tied at 1-1, but Sutherland gave MCC a 2-1 lead in the first minute of the second half. DiPrato scored twice in a seven minute span to put the game out of reach and Riley added her team-high fourth goal in the 65th minute before the Cougars shifted into cruise control. Crespo’s second goal cut MCC’s lead to 5-2.

MCC outshot NHTI by a 23 to four margin.

The Cougars play a pair of cruicial Region 21, Division III games this week. They host Massasoit CC Monday afternoon at 12PM and travel to Springfield Tech on Wednesday for a 4PM game.
