MCC Credit-Free Programs Offer Courses to Help for the Holidays

Manchester, Conn. (November 14, 2016) – As the holiday season approaches, Manchester Community College offers a variety of credit-free courses to help people prepare to entertain regardless of budget or skills. All of these are one-day courses offered at an affordable fee.

At the “Decorative Centerpiece for Thanksgiving” class, students will learn to design a Thanksgiving-themed centerpiece perfect for any table. They will also learn care and handling of flowers and elements of design. The class will be held on Monday, November 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. in room GP215. The course fee is $20. “Holiday Hors d’oeuvres,” will teach students to make a variety of holiday appetizers ranging from fig and gorgonzola crepes to shrimp fritters. Students will make six hors d’oeuvres and a dessert during the class. The class will be held on Thursday, December 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. in room GP213. The course fee is $55. Also being offered is “Holiday Specialties: Christmas Brunch.” Students will learn to prepare fruit parfait with maple cashew cream, winter frittata, pecan waffles, and roasted prosciutto-wrapped asparagus (all of which happen to be gluten- and dairy-free). This class will be held on Friday, December 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. in room GP213. The course fee is $50. To register, refer to CRN 31648.

“Small Plates of Spain: Tapas!” will teach students to make three different tapas, small plates of appetizers that may be served hot or cold, that will be perfect for taking to a party or having at home as a light meal. This class will be help on Monday, December 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. in room GP213. The course fee is $55. To register, refer to CRN 31612.
