MCC Continuing Education Releases Summer 2014 Credit-Free Catalog
Manchester Community College released its new Continuing Education Summer Credit-Free Programs Catalog. This year’s catalog is packed with Credit-Free courses aimed at supporting adults to enhance their career qualifications and explore opportunities in pursuit of lifelong learning goals. Students new and previously acquainted with MCC’s Continuing Education program will find more than 25 new courses taught by inspiring new instructors with diverse professional backgrounds, as well as those with a longtime following.
Adults in the community who have more freedom from the office this summer can drop in for a taste of the college life with MCC’s Friday Noon Institute. Scheduled from noon-1:30 p.m. most Fridays at the MCC campus, instructors provide an array of topics for discussion, including “Trash Talking: A Brief History of Society’s Refuse and How You Can Make it Work for You Now,” “Emily Dickinson: Love & Death,” and “The Beautiful & the Damned: A Portrait of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.” These courses are offered for a single session for just $5. Pre-registration is required.
If you are looking for courses that can provide useful skills for the workplace this summer, consider “Spanish for Health Care Professionals & Counselors“; “Conversation to Presentation: Expanding Everyday Communication Skills into Effective Public Speaking” or “Grant Writing for Beginners.” Full descriptions of these courses and more are offered online.
If you are looking for a book club this summer, be sure and check out the club at MCC on Main, led by MCC’s library and staff. Some of the books on the list include “The Beginner’s Goodbye” by Anne Tyler,” “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese and more. But if reading isn’t your only idea of summer fun, MCC introduces “Great Tasting & Affordable Wines for Summer Entertainment” with instructor Rayona Hobbs. For a fee of just $25, sample an assortment of flavors to determine your favorites for your next get-together.
