MCC Announces Spring 2018 Scholarship Recipients
Manchester, Conn. (December 20, 2017) – Manchester Community College Foundation awarded a total of more than $130,000 in scholarship funding for the Spring 2018 semester. The scholarship presentation was held Monday evening, December 11, in the SBM Charitable Foundation Building auditorium. A reception followed for the recipients and their families.
The student speaker was May Segar, of Windham. A mother of two young children who returned to college to pursue an associate degree in business office technology, Segar thanked donors for enabling her to pursue her dreams.
“MCC gave me a chance and made me realize that I should not settle, but to dream higher and reach those dreams,” she said. “In the near future, I plan to go to a four-year college for a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree.”
She added, “We are all here tonight because of the thoughtful and genuinely caring people that are seated in the front. You made all of this these possible for us. You gave us an opportunity to excel and push forward towards our goal of having a higher education. So, on behalf of all the scholarship recipients that are here tonight, and also those who could not attend, we thank you for your support.”
MCC Foundation gives hundreds of deserving students the opportunity to achieve their academic dreams through the scholarship program. In addition, the foundation supports college programs.
