MCC Announces Appointments to Staff Positions

MANCHESTER, Conn. (November 28, 2018) – Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following new appointments:

Michelle LaBelle ’16, of Hartford, was named Veterans Services associate for the campus’ Operation Academic Support for Incoming Service Members (OASIS) center. LaBelle served as a U.S. Army combat medic from 1996 to 2000. She joins MCC after completing her bachelor of science degree in business administration at the University of Hartford. She holds an associate in science degree in accounting from MCC.

Samantha Plourd, of Sturbridge, Mass., was named assistant to the dean of student affairs. She was previously enrollment services coordinator at MCC since 2014. Prior to joining the college, Plourd was transfer counselor/student-ambassador coordinator at Rosemont College. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English and legal studies from Quinnipiac University and a master’s degree from Rosemont College.

 Carleigh Schultz, of East Hartford, was appointed director of non-credit programs. She joined MCC in 2011 as coordinator of youth programs. Schultz is certified in elementary education and in theater arts and holds bachelors of arts and of science degrees, both from Southern Connecticut State University. She is a candidate for a master of science degree in organizational effectiveness and leadership at Charter Oak State College.

Umesh Vig was named director of international student affairs and student conduct. He was previously assistant to the dean of student affairs, since joining MCC in 2004. Vig holds a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut. He also holds a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in New Delhi, India; and bachelor’s degrees in communications with a minor in sociology; and in English, economics and philosophy, from Eastern Connecticut State University and Guru Nanak Dev University in India, respectively.
