MCC Announces Appointments to Faculty Positions

Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following full-time faculty appointments:

Dr. Nicole Esposito, of Longmeadow, Mass., has been named instructor, human services/social services.  She holds a doctor of education (Ed.D.) in educational psychology from American International College and has served as an adjunct faculty member at MCC, developing and instructing courses in abnormal psychology and adults with disabilities since 2012.  She has also served on the adjunct faculty of Holyoke Community College and Bay Path College in student advising and online teaching and Saturday programs respectively. Dr. Esposito also maintains a private practice as a psychotherapist.

Donna Sweeney, of Hebron, Conn., was named assistant professor and field work/clinical coordinator in the occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program. She has served as adjunct faculty member teaching healthcare management and assisting in the recruitment, selection and advising of OTA students since 2012. She has also maintained a private practice in occupational therapy since 1988. Sweeney holds a master’s degree in educational technology from American College of Education and a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Utica College.  She is an author, lecturer and 2006 recipient of the Professional of the Year award from the Autism Society of Connecticut.

Dr. Jason White, of Storrs, Conn., was named instructor of engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut in 2013 and also holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from that institution. Dr. White has extensive research experience in biomolecular engineering, applied mathematics and mathematical modeling and simulation.  He has co-authored articles on cancer therapies. In addition, while mentoring a team of 12 high school students at Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School in Groton, Conn., he was the recipient of a 2013-13 Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam grant to build a compost water-heating system.  Dr. White also is the recipient of a Lemelson-MIT Excite award.

Allison MacKenzie, of Storrs, Conn., was appointed assistant professor/program coordinator, health and exercise science. MacKenzie has extensive teaching and clinical experience in her field, including serving as undergraduate program director at the University of Buffalo and assistant professor/cardiac rehabilitation program director at the University of New Hampshire. Her clinical experience includes Brigham and Women’s Hospital, South Shore Medical Center and the Joslin Diabetes Center in the greater Boston area. She has presented widely on health and exercise science and holds a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from Northeastern University.
