MCC Announces Appointments to Leadership, Staff and Faculty Positions

MANCHESTER, Conn. (February 1, 2017) – Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following new appointments:

Roger Martinez Alcaz joined the MCC faculty as an instructor of biology. Alcaz graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU). He also holds a master’s degree in biological and environmental sciences from WCSU.

Daniel Finnegan has been named a custodian. Prior to coming to MCC, Finnegan was a handyman at TJ’s Property Maintenance in Wolcott and a parts advisor at Bradshaw Jeep in Oakville.

Debra Freund was appointed manager of affirmative action, diversity and inclusion, and chief diversity officer. Freund worked at the Department of Children and Families for several years as the director of diversity and equity. She also worked with the Department of Motor Vehicles as a director of affirmative action and staff development.

Sarah Perez was named student retention coordinator. She worked at Lincoln Technical Institute as a career services representative and director of student services. She then went on to work for Wheeler Clinic in New Britain as a job development specialist, then began working at MCC in 2015.She holds a bachelor’s degree in urban and community studies from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU); and a masters degree in Social Work from the same institution.

Miquel Pigott has been appointed director of Business and Industry Services. He previously served at MCC as the sales associate for Business and Industry Services in Continuing Education Division. He holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Connecticut in Business Administration and a MBA from Indiana University.

Diana Reid has been named director of Institutional Advancement. She has worked as a lead systems specialist at Travelers Insurance Company. She joined MCC in 2010 as educational assistant. Prior to that, she was principal and owner of Database Creations LLC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Central Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in strategic fundraising and philanthropy from Bay Path University.

Adam Santos was hired as an IT technician II. Santos has a background in robotics engineering and previously worked for Reno Machine Company, Cell N Tablet Repair LLC, and Simply MAC-Apple Specialist.

Adam Saucier was hired as a web designer and developer. Saucier obtained a Communications bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University with a minor in media studies. Saucier was a student intern at CCSU in the office of communications and marketing before transitioning to Worx Branding and Advertising as a copywriting intern. Saucier landed a job at Worx Branding and Advertising where he worked for four years prior to landing a job at MCC.

Ryan Styrczula was hired as an IT technician II. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in sociology and a master’s degree from CCSU in technology management. He also completed coursework in architecture at Philadelphia University (PhilaU). He joins MCC after working at the IT helpdesk at PhilaU and at CCSU as an on-site support technician.

David Russell was named manufacturing program director/instructor of manufacturing. His career started at Pratt & Whitney where he served in many manufacturing roles before being appointed operations manager of development and production manufacturing. He then served as product director of compression systems module center before moving to director of facilities and maintenance. He joined MCC in August 2015 as an instructor of manufacturing.
