Manchester Community College to Participate in College Goal Sunday, January 25
Manchester Community College will participate in College Goal Sunday (CGS) on January 25 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the SBM Charitable Foundation building on the college’s main campus.
CGS participants will receive free, hands-on assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and they will walk away with the satisfaction of knowing they have accomplished one of the biggest steps in getting ready to go to college.
The program is designed to assist prospective college students and their parents in completing the FAFSA. Financial aid administrators and other volunteers offer this service at no charge. In addition to receiving assistance in filling out the FAFSA, participants will receive general information regarding state and federal financial aid programs.
“For many college-bound students and their families, navigating the financial aid process can be one of the most complicated steps in preparing for a post-secondary education,” said Ivette Rivera-Dreyer, director, financial aid for MCC. “The goal is to increase the enrollment of students who, without financial aid, would not be able to afford college.”
CGS is an effort by hundreds of volunteers from across Connecticut who will come together on a Sunday afternoon in January with the common goal of making sure that the process of applying for financial aid does not become an obstacle that would keep any person from pursuing an education beyond high school.
