MCC February Main-Campus Events Announced
The following events will be held at Manchester Community College during the month of February. All are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.
February 6 and 20 – Common Read Book Discussion Group 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and February 11 and 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. Learning Resource Center (LRC), room A121. Join us for great discussion, good company and light refreshments while exploring a fine read, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. February 18 – Poetry Reading: Clare Rossini. 8 to 9 p.m., GPA Community Commons. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Clair Rossini is on the faculties of Trinity College and Vermont College, Montpelier. February 19 – Health Careers Admission Information Sessions: Students interested in being admitted into a Health Careers program must attend a mandatory information session as the first step in the admissions process. February 19 – Sol LeWitt Exhibition, opening reception. 6 p.m. Hans Weiss Newspace Gallery, SBM Charitable Foundation building. Sol LeWitt is a major figure in the history of contemporary art. The exhibit is on loan from the New Britain Museum of American Art by special arrangement. Show runs to April 29. February 20 – International Film Series: Dear White People. 7 to 9:30 p.m. SBM Charitable Foundation auditorium. A social satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where controversy breaks out over a black-face party thrown by white students. February 24 – Job Search and Cover Letter Workshops. 12 to1:15 p.m. and February 26 from 6 to 7:15 p.m., SSC L107. This workshop will help individuals identify strategies for managing a comprehensive and effective job search and maximize the impact of a cover letter. Free and open to the public. February 25 – Estate Planning and Charitable Gifts. 5 to 7 p.m. Culinary Arts Center, SSC. Cost: $10. Join us for a dinner prepared by MCC’s award-winning culinary arts students, and hear real examples from attorney Malcolm Barlow about how his clients and others have effectively made an impact on future generations through their estate plans.
