April Events Announced for MCC on Main

The following events are scheduled for April at Manchester Community College Arts and Education Center, also known as MCC on Main. For details on any of these events, call 860-647-6030.

“Live on Main” entertainment in the Dehn Gallery:

April 10 – Trivia on Main. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. $5 cover. Teams of two or more are welcome. Prizes awarded. Beer tasting sponsored by Olde Burnside Brewery.

April 16 – Mishi-maya-gat: Spoken Word and Music Series. 6:30 to 9 p.m.  Free. Music by the MCC Music Club, 6:30 p.m. Special guest poet, Christopher Merrill, 7:30 p.m.

April 25 – Acoustic on Main: Open Mic. 7 to 9 p.m. $5 cover. Sign-ups start at 6:30 p.m. Showcase your talents. Hosted by Curtis Willey. BYOB

Art exhibitions:

Through May 16 – “Food For Thought” Exhibition. Juried show featuring art of all mediums, chosen by Douglas Hyland, director, New Britain Museum of American Art; Billy Grant, owner, B.G. Dining; and Jane Rainwater, curator, Dehn Gallery. Prizes awarded. Show features artwork that is food- or beverage-related. Free. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Workshops/seminars:

April 8 – “Beer, Burgers and Managing Your Bucks.” 6 to 8 p.m. This special edition is free. Learn how life changes can affect your home, car, health and other insurance needs. Sliders by the Main Pub; beer tasting by Rogo Distributors.

April 15 – Century 21 Homebuyers Seminar. 5:30 to 8 p.m. Free. Information about the home-buying process from local professionals. Light fare offered.

April 30 – Manchester Entrepreneurs Happy Hour. 6 to 8 p.m. Free. Network with local entrepreneurs. Light fare and cocktails by Onyx Moonshine. Reservations suggested.

Also in April:

Figure Drawing Open Studio. Each Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. $12 per person; $10 for MCC on Main members. Easels provided; bring your own supplies.

Yoga. Wednesdays, 5:15 p.m. Walk-in fee of $10, or $64 for eight weeks in advance. Instructor is Teresa Maturino.

Zumba® Fitness. Mondays, 9:30 a.m.; Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m.; walk-in fee is $8. Instructor is Michele Colletti.
