Lois Ryan, MCC Professor, Inducted into the Manchester Hall of Fame

Manchester, CT – (September 12, 2012) . . . Lois Ryan, professor of English at Manchester Community College, was inducted into the Manchester Arts Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the Lutz Museum earlier this summer. As stated in the official citation, Ryan received this honor “in recognition of her dedication to, advocacy for, and achievement in the arts of the Manchester community.” She has coordinated and curated the Manchester Art Association’s exhibit at Manchester Community College since 1990 and is an accomplished visual fine artist who paints in watercolor and oil. The citation was presented to Ryan by Jay Moran, the deputy mayor of Manchester. Ryan received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and her graduate degree from Central Connecticut State University. She has been teaching at Manchester Community College since 1981.

The Manchester Arts Commission was created in 2001 to encourage and generate community participation in the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural activities, support the goals of the arts community, create new economic opportunities through the expansion of artistic and cultural programs and events, and to enhance learning opportunities.
