Kurzatkowski, Cange and Walker Fill the Net in MCC 7-0 Shutout

MANCHESTER – Mariusz Kurzatkowski (Southington)scored three times and set up one of Jemmy Cange’s (Norwich) two goals as MCC blanked Benjamin Franklin I.T. 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Manchester. Jason Walker (Windsor) also scored twice as the Cougars won their sixth straight game – the last four by shutout.

The 11-2 Cougars, who are ranked #9 in the most recent (October 8th) NJCAA Division III Poll, took a 4-0 lead at the half while Hami Kara shut out the Shockers (5-6) of Benjamin Franklin I.T. over the first 45 minutes. Jeff Gregor,(Newington) Chris Meneses (Canton) and John Ruggiero (Enfield) preserved the shutout over the final 45 minutes. Defender Dennis Cartier (Middletown) also had a hand in the shutout when he hustled back to save a ball that was rolling into the net in the first half.

Cange, the NJCAA #7 leading scorer with 39 points (16 goals 7 assists) also contributed to the win with a pair of assists. Kurzatkowski is #6 in the nation (15G, 11 A — 41 P) in scoring also had an assist. Defender Ryan Alexander (Torrington)had two assists. Walker is #18 in scoring with 8-9—25 totals.

Gregor’s 0.535 GAA over 10 games is good for the #4 ranking in the NJCAA Division III. The sophomore from Newington has allowed just three goals on 41 shots covering 505 minutes.

Manchester visits NJCAA Division I CC of Rhode Island on Wednesday before playing home games on Saturday (11 AM vs. Bristol CC) and Sunday (2 PM vs Dean College). The following weekend, MCC will host the NJCAA Division III Region XXI Tournament at the Mc Cormick Complex on the MCC campus
