Julie Larkin, MCC Student, Honored at Phi Theta Kappa International Convention
Manchester, CT – (May 9, 2012) . . . Julie Larkin, outgoing New England Region President and Vice-President of Alpha Upsilon Alpha chapter at MCC, received the Distinguished Regional Officer Award at the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention held in Nashville, TN.
Distinguished Regional Officers are recognized for outstanding leadership, implementing regional goals that support overall Society goals, for significant contributions to regional Honors in Action programs and effectively communicating the region’s programs and projects to members and chapters. Larkin was one of ten chosen for this award out of 587 chapters in the U.S. and Internationally.
Julie, whose hometown is East Hartford, is working towards her associate’s degree in Psychology at MCC. Along with being an active member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, she has also served as Student Government Association President. It is Larkin’s desire to give others the same experience that she has had at MCC, to pay it forward and encourage students to believe in themselves, which is what motivates her to be so active at MCC.
