Jim Insinga Inducted Into Southeast Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame

MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 16) – Manchester Community College men’s soccer coach Jim Insinga was inducted into the first class of the Southeast Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame at the Officer’s Club at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on May 12.

Joe Cruz, Raymond Cieplik, James Gabarra, Jim Gardner, William Lessig, Vittorio Spera and Warren Swanson joined Insinga as the eight inaugural inductees.

Insinga, a 1968 graduate of Northeast Institute of Technology, is a three-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year (2002, 2003, 2005). He has a 57-43-5 overall record and has coached four NJCAA Division III All-Americans – forward Fotis Anastasiou (2002), forward Darren Foster (2003), forward Colin Jackson (2005) and midfielder Lamar Chancey (2005) – in six seasons at MCC.

The Cougars have won three NJCAA Division III Region XXI men’s soccer championships since 2002 under Insinga. Manchester Community College won the 2002 NJCAA Division III District III Men’s Soccer championship and advanced to the Final Four.

Insinga coached recreational, travel and premier teams in southeast Connecticut from 1985-2004. He was on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA), Southeast Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (SECJSA) and Southeast Premier Club from 1995-2004. Insinga coached under-18 and under-19 teams representing the state of Connecticut at a United States regional men’s soccer tournament in 1998 and 1999.
