Jackson Named NJCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
MANCHESTER, Conn. – Manchester Community College sophomore forward Colin Jackson (HARTFORD) has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 3.
Jackson had four goals and three assists in MCC’s 8-1 win over Dutchess Community College on Sept. 3. He scored on nearly identical shots from eight yards at 13:00 and 23:00. Jackson scored back-to-back goals in the second half on a 10-yard kick off the inside of his foot to the left of the net at 64:00 and on a high four-yard shot after getting past the Dutchess CC defense at 67:00.
The four goals tied Jackson’s 2004 season total.
In his first game since being named the national Player of the Week, Jackson had a goal as Manchester Community defeated Holyoke Community College 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the McCormick Athletic Complex.
Jackson, a 2001 graduate of Wolmer’s Boys High in Kingston, Jamaica, is tied for the team lead in goals with freshman forward Andreas Blamo (WEST HARTFORD) with five and has a team-high 13 points, one from tying his 2004 point total.
MCC (2-2 overall) travels to Boston for a 1 p.m. NJCAA Division III Region XXI game against Bunker Hill Community College on Saturday.
