Housing Market Improves; Get Real Estate Credentials Through MCC Credit-Free Programs
MANCHESTER – March 26 –Single-family home prices rose in January, according to a recent S&P/Case Shiller composite index. Experts call it the biggest annual increase in six-and-a-half years and further evidence that the housing market recovery remains on track. Manchester Community College Credit-Free Programs is offering real estate courses to get people prepared to begin selling again. Basic Appraisal Principles starts April 3 and runs on nine Wednesday events through June 5. Principles and Practices of Real Estate (which prepares students to sit for the State salesperson’s exam) will run this summer, starting June 6. “Now is an excellent time to begin studying for a real estate license,” said Ann Bonney, director of Credit-Free Programs at Manchester Community College. “These Our real estate courses are taught by a licensed CT broker, Angelo D’Amato, who brings more than 30 years of real estate brokerage, sales, leasing, development, and property management to the classroom.”
MCC Credit-Free Programs offers real estate courses throughout the academic year and summer. Details on the upcoming courses:
Basic Appraisal Procedures – This course is required for those seeking an appraiser’s license. It is also recognized by the Real Estate Commission not just for students seeking a broker’s license but also for real estate salespeople. Focus is on approaches to value and topics including defining the problem; collecting and selecting data; analyzing, reconciling final value opinions; communicating the appraisal; property descriptions; geographic and neighborhood characteristics; land and site considerations for highest and best use; improvements; architectural styles; and types of construction. Students must attend at least 30 hours and achieve a passing grade of 70 in order to receive a course certificate. Nine Wednesdays, 4/3-6/5 (does not meet 4/17), 6-10 p.m. Fee: $390 (refer to CRN #11555 to register).
Principles and Practices of Real Estate – This required course for real estate licensing provides clear explanations of modern real estate practices and a working knowledge of real estate in Connecticut. Property owners, buyers, sellers, and anyone interested in pursuing real estate careers or operations will find this course beneficial and rewarding. Students must attend at least 60 hours and pass the course with a score of 70 or higher in order to sit for the State exam (the Salesperson Exam fee of approximately $80 is not included with this course). Sixteen sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6/4-7/30 (does not meet 7/4; exam date 8/1), 5:45-9:45 p.m. Fee: $485 (refer to CRN #20699 to register).
