Health Insurance on Tap for December 11 “Beer, Burgers & Managing Your Bucks”
Manchester, CT (December 4, 2013)… Everyone is talking about health insurance these days, and that conversation will point in the direction of young adults at the next “Beer, Burgers and Managing Your Bucks” event at MCC on Main. The second gathering in the series, which runs the second Wednesday of each month from 5:15 to 7 PM, will address health insurance issues that are important to those in their twenties and early thirties – including its affordability and whether getting it is a smart move from a financial perspective.
On hand to present the facts and answer questions will be panel members Tom Scanlon, CFP, CPA, with Borgida & Company, P.C., in Manchester; Michele Mudrick, representing Access Health CT (Connecticut’s new health insurance exchange); and Ray Stone and Chris Stone, principals at Stone Insurance of Suffield, an independent agency that specializes in health insurance.
“Health insurance and the cost of health care, especially for the uninsured, are hot topics and, certainly, something young people need to carefully consider,” says Marcie LaBelle, the series’ coordinator. “We want to give those who attend the event a relaxed forum for asking questions and getting the information they need to make up their own minds.”
During the first half of the evening, participants will enjoy a sampling of beers from December’s featured brewery, the Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield. The brewery is in its second decade of operation. Besides Connecticut, the company serves markets in New York City, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. It was ranked number 15 in the top 50 American Micro Breweries by the Beer Advocate. Sliders will also be served up by Manchester’s popular burger bar, Corey’s Catsup & Mustard.
