Four selected for All-Region 21 team
MANCHESTER, CT – MCC Women’s soccer players Miranda Hodge (Rocky Hill) and Brittany Kaplan (Enfield) were named to the NJCAA Division III All-Region 21 team. Teammates Lindsay Estok (Middletown) and Ilyssa Riley (Enfield) were named to the second team.
Hodge moved to forward from defense half way through the season and went on to lead Alex Calpa’s Cougars with eight goals. Kaplan anchored the defense and helped lead MCC to its third consecutive playoff berth.
Estok, the lone MCC sophomore to receive post season acknowledgement, led the team with 18 points (five goals, eight assists). The 2007 Middletown High graduate was the team captain and finished her junior college career with 14 goals and 17 assists for 45 points. Riley had seven goals and three assists for the 5-8 Cougars.
MCC was awarded the Division III, Region 21 Sportsmanship Award. The Cougars lost to Holyoke CC 2-0 in the semi-final of the NJCAA Division III Region 21 Tournament on October 31st.
