DeCordova and Bell Take on New Roles at MCC
Endia DeCordova has been named dean of development and community engagement. Leia Bell has taken on the newly-created role of executive director for the MCC Foundation.
In her new position, DeCordova will have overall responsibility for the college’s annual fund, alumni affairs, special events and community engagement.
She has served at MCC as associate dean since 2011. Prior to that, she was associate director, institutional advancement and community engagement. She joined MCC in late 2005 as a public relations associate.
DeCordova is a past president and board member of the Public Relations Society of America, Connecticut Valley Chapter, and she serves on several additional councils and boards, including the Northeast Regional Board of the National Council on Black American Affairs, the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce and Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity. She is also the state chair elect for Connecticut ACE (American Council on Education) Women’s Network. DeCordova holds an M.B.A. from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University.
In her new position, Bell will work closely with the MCC Foundation board and will also be the lead for the college’s capital campaign and major gifts, heading up the initiative to raise $14 million to support academic programs and college services.
Bell joined MCC as dean of institutional advancement in 2012. Previously, she was director of advancement at Goodwin College, where she managed the development of the Goodwin College Foundation. Prior to her position at Goodwin, she was the associate director of annual giving for the University of Saint Joseph.
Bell currently serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, and she is a member of Toastmasters, the American Association of University Women, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She holds an M.S. in Management from USJ where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; an M.A. in English from National University in San Diego; and a B.A. in English from SUNY Binghamton, graduating cum laude and a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.
