Dean College Scores Six Unanswered Runs to Beat MCC 7-6

MANCHESTER – Dean College (7-2) erased a 6-1 deficit with six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Manchester CC (5-11) 7-6 Tuesday afternoon at MCC.

Mike Filice hit a two-out, bases-loaded double to tie the game at 6-6, and then scored the game winner on Casey Cotter’s RBI single. Dean starter Dillon Ryan picked up the win despite giving all six Manchester runs on 10 hits while pitching the first seven innings. Jesse Rose walked five but did not allow a run over the last two innings to earn the save.

“We swung the bat a little better and played clean defense,” MCC head coach Chris Strahowski said. “But we just have to put 27 outs together.”

MCC starter Kevin Madera (Newington) gave up just one run and struck out six over the first four innings for the Cougars. Adam Scanlon (South Windsor) took the loss. Joe Vecca (Bristol) took advantage of a spot start in center field, reaching base in all four of his trips to the plate with a single, double, two RBI and a pair of walks. Luis Davila (East Hartford) was 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the losing effort.
