Danso’s Goal the Difference as MCC Outlasts Dean in Second Overtime
FRANKLIN, MA – (October 4, 2008) Joe Danso (West Haven) scored on a rebound from 18-feet out, five minutes into the second overtime, to give MCC a 1-0 win over Dean College in Franklin, MA Saturday afternoon.
“Dean is a very good team and we struggled throughout to try to crack them,” MCC Coach Jim Insinga said of the Region 21, Division I team. “We knew it would be a 1-0 game, we just didn’t know who would come out on top. It could have gone either way.”
Jeff Gregor (Newington) made nine saves for the Cougars, playing all 105 minutes, and “knocked down some big shots,” according to Insinga.
Insinga also cited his defenders as playing extremely well, specifically Austin Fetzer (Hebron) and Dennis Cartier (Middletown).
“Fetzer anchored our defense,” an exhausted Insinga said from the bus trip home. “Fetzer and Dennis (Cartier) had a lot of work to do back there.”
