Cougars take double-header from Franklin Pierce JV, 5-1 and 8-1
MANCHESTER -The MCC baseball team swept a double-header for the second time in as many days and is now 24-14-1 with three games to play before the NJCAA Region21 Division III Tournament next weekend in Brockton, MA.
Steve Simon (6-0) threw a seven-inning complete game with nine strikeouts in game one, scattering six hits without walking a batter.
Juan Bisono scored two runs and stole two bases in the winning effort. Herb Coggeshall and Vin Sommo each had a pair of singles. Dave Alexander had a triple.
In the second game, MCC took a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning behind starter and winning pitcher Kevin Wodatch, then tacked on four runs to put the game away.
James McGowan had a two-run double in the first and a two-run single in the fourth. Alan Fredriksson had a triple, a single and scored two runs.
Steve Aloisa pitched two innings of one-hit, shutout relief while Dan Nelson worked the ninth.
MCC hosts Monroe College for a double-header at noon today (Sunday May 3) before closing out the regular season on Monday afternoon with a Region 21 division game against Holyoke at 3:30pm
