Cougars rout U of Bridgeport JV’s; Aloisa wins first start

BRIDGEPORT, CT – (April 21, 2009) Steve Aloisa of Windsor Locks picked up his first win of the season in his first start as MCC (16-12-1) won its fifth in a row, routing University of Bridgeport’s JVs 16-3.

Dave Alexander hit his team leading sixth home run in the Cougars’ five-run fifth inning. Vin Sommo was 3 for 4 with a double a two-run homer and four rbi. Peter Burgio of Bolton and Herb Coggeshall of Coventry were also 3 for 4. Burgio scored three runs and three stolen bases. Mike Quagliaroli of Windsor Locks had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three.

Aloisa struck out four over five innings before turning the game over to Nick Melino and Rob Brown who each threw a scoreless inning in the seven-inning game.

MCC had 18 hits and played errorless baseball.
