Cougars in Cruise Control against Bristol in 4-0 Win

Frank Busumbru (South Windsor) scored twice and Daniel Boateng (East Hartford) had a goal and assist as MCC (9-1) beat Bristol CC ( 2-8) 4-0 Saturday afternoon in Manchester.

Shavar Duncan (Montego Bay, JA) scored his second goal in as many games while Hami Kara (Wethersfield/nine saves), Tony Ettorre (Plainville/one save) and Connor Burns (Rocky Hill/two saves) combined for the Cougars’ eighth shutout of the season.

Busumbru’s first goal came at the 13 minute mark from a Bryant Bermudez (East Hartford) pass. The Cougars took 18 shots in the first half, but held just a 1-0 lead at the break.

“It took us a little longer to break them down,” MCC Coach Jim Insinga said. “But we got more comfortable in the second half, got more shots and we started to penetrate their defense and that was the difference.”

Boateng’s third goal of the season came from a perfect cross pass from Mariusz Kurzatkowski (Southington) 15 minutes into the second half. Eight minutes later, Boateng set up Busumbru for his fifth goal.

“I thank Danny for the assist,” Busumbru said. “He just curled the ball and gave me an open shot.” Duncan’s goal came in the final minute of play and was assisted by Sebby Mazzarella (Wethersfield).

“Frank controlled the midfield and did a tremendous job,” Insinga said of Busumbru. “Mariusz had a great game again, along with G (Giuseppe Pananjia). They are all working very well up front and it’s starting to click.”

MCC hosts Holyoke CC Thursday at 4PM.
