Cougars Crush Eastern; Final Weekend of Regular Season Starts with DH at Home Saturday

Kevin Wodatch had a three-run homer, a three-run triple and eight RBI as MCC (25-17) pounded ECSU’s Sub- Varsity 15-3 in Willimantic Friday night. Wodatch also walked twice with the bases loaded. Starter Kevin Madera improved to 7-0 on the season…..

Saturday’s DH at home vs Monroe College starts at noon…The Cougars travel to Rindge, NH on Sunday for a DH starting at 9:30 am in the final games of the regular season…The Region 21 D3 tournament is slated to start Friday afternoon, May 7 in Holyoke. Pairings will be determined on Tuesday.

NJCAA Baseball Players of the Week – April 28, 2010

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This week the NJCAA Division 1 Players of the Week are Ryan Holland from Chattahoochee Valley Community College (Ala.) and Josh Dean of Blinn College (Texas). In the Division 2 ranks, the Player of the Week is Zach Polzin of Hinds Community College (Miss.) and the Pitcher of the Week is Zac Livingston from Glendale Community College (Ariz.). In Division 3, the Player of the Week is A.J. Lowers of Manchester Community College (Conn.).

Lowers is the Division 3 Player of the week after a week where hit .588 (10-17) with 10 runs, two doubles, one triple, eight RBI’s, five walks, and one stolen base.

On April 20, in a loss to UCONN-Avery Point, the sophomore went 1-for-3 with one run, one walk, and one stolen base.

The next day, in a 9-7 loss to Holyoke CC, Lowers went 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, and two walks. On April 22, in a 17-2 win over Quinsigamond CC, he went 4-for-4 with three runs, one home run, four RBI’s, and one walk.

On April 24, in a doubleheader against Massachusetts Bay CC, Lowers went 4-for-7 with four runs, two doubles, one triple, and three RBI’s. This year, Lowers has hit safely in 33-of-39 games and is currently riding a seven game hit streak with a .479 batting average.
